Type R and VTEC owners

TGM are currently painting another rocker cover which I should have fitted in a few weeks.

This is something I really want to do mine has a big chunk missing where yours is flaked off. Loads down the sides though.

Will have to sort it later in the year.

What's this part called and how easy is it to replace?

Hi guys, I've posted regarding this before, but had no luck fixing it, included a video this time as well.

I have a 2009 Honda Civic FK2. When turning the wheel there is a loud clunk coming from just underneath the driver side. There is also light clunking when moving slowly and turning at low speeds, as well as when going over speed bumps.

The clunking doesn't happen all the time but i've noticed it getting worse lately.

Any ideas? I've taken it to Honda and another private garage, and neither could see anything wrong from a physical inspection.

Ouch. I had an issue with my EP3 when the hub cracked after a fitting a new ball joint.

That made some pretty similar noises! Lucky it didn't all fall to pieces! Get checking :) Not sure if the front set up is of similar design on the FK2.

Have you ever had the subframe checked/bushes greased? I'd start there if there are no worn components

Already checked and it's not clear.

I can see the part number for the 'cooling plate' but I believe this is a mild steel bar that bolts down to the cooling plate, spreading the load so the plastic doesn't break.

I think I'm going to try and remove it, sand it down and re-paint. I'll probably replace the bolts too with some cheap ones from tegiwa.

I source all my OEM items from Hendy Performance:

They're pretty good at finding obscure things and the prices are reasonable, ie cheaper than the Lings online quotes.

Have you noticed any changes in the steering? If so it could be tie rods, failing that ball joints.

Not tried that but I think the light clunking at low speeds could be the subframe. Taking the car to a Honda specialist tomorrow morning, hopefully they can see something.

Nope, actual steering is perfect and there are no clunking noises at all at higher speeds.

Could be Subframe click but suprised if the Honda dealer has already had a look and not mentioned it, very common on Fn2s , mines been re done on the last 2 services and i only do about 500 miles a month. Hasnt come back yet since being done in November by Tdi North.

Theres a link to the Honda service bulletin in this thread
