Type R and VTEC owners

I could have done with them this morning when a deer jumped out infront of me. Cracked bumper and watching it die for 5 mins :(

Nah I was driving slow as lots of cyclists around so was only doing 50-60 on the NSL road.

Ran out in front of car coming other way and stopped in middle of road, was only a little one. I saw it as soon as it appeared and started braking hard but had no where to go so went a bit in hedge and hoped he didn't move- he did and made a surprisingly loud Bang, but only a cracked bumper with s bit of damage to fibreglass Js racing front spoiler chin

I think the numberplate hit his head first then I must have carried it a bit in radiator grill too. Good job he didn't go under the car but pretty horrible experience. Also had deer poo on the bumper :(

Guess I need to pull the deer hair out too

Are these mostly for bling with not much more stopping power than standard front calipers?

Would love a set just for looks, but cant justify the price of them :O

Standard calipers are very good, however 4 pot calipers offer a lot of advantages, better heat dissipation, more even pressure on the pad and subsequently pad onto the disc. For day to day driving they're complete overkill, I fully accept that. :D

Are you going to be using aftermarket wheels or wheel spacers to fit them?

Don't forget the colour coding

Any weight advantage over the standard calipers?

Never had any issues with the standard calipers on mine but always wanted a nice set of 4 pots on there, if I get another might look into it again even though it's arguably a waste of money :)

They are lighter than oem, but a lot of people rate them poorly as "an upgrade" because they are not really much better than the standard ones to warrant a £1k price tag, they are just a bit of bling, the only advantage of a proper BBK is the fact you can use standard discs and pads so that makes them cheaper in the long run, but again your using the same size pads and discs as a normal brake setup, which is why they are not much better than standard, which is why people say spend the money on some decent discs pads and lines and you will get the same sort of stopping power, but obviously no bling.

Seanos baby Rotrex EP3 had Spoon monoblocks on, very bling. Not seen them in the wild since. Very slightly frivolous purchase but they do their job.
