Type R and VTEC owners

I some castrol edge 5w40 in my ATR a month back. Got it from micksgarage who is still doing them for £28.82 per 4 litre bottle which was the cheapest around at the time. I got 2 bottles which made it free delivery as well. I sold the 2 left over bottles of Edge 5w30 that I had for my old car for more than that.

I have a 9G Civic estate whilst my 8G goes back in for a few niggles to be looked at, it has the same R18 engine as mine so it feels a little heavier but the interior is so much nicer, feels a lot more solid and no creaking or squeaking, the sound system is really nice with the HFT too and the rear visibility, wing mirrors and generally the outside world is much more visible.

The ride is nicer too.

Everything about the 8G that I dislike isn't there with the 9G, I don't want to give it back!

You are right the civic tourer is quite good. I have driven 2 different ones for over 35k. I would say it is much better balanced than the hatchback which is probably why they wnt for a tourer over a hatchback in the btcc. I had the 1.6 diesel though which has a little more poke and much better efficiency. It's broken the world record for real world mpg which is quite amazing considering how big it is. However, I have now ended up with a jazz because they changed the lease car rules. I am only allowed a 1.4 because my wife only had her license for a few months. Gives me more excuse to take the atr out though.

I am likely to be ordering a Civic Sport 1.8i VTEC next week. The missus works for them and can get two cars as a pre-tax deduction from her salary on their staff scheme. You keep it for 6 to 12 months and all ongoing costs are included, apart from fuel. We already have a CR-V.

Questions is, what colour? It comes with black alloys and I quite fancy getting it in Crystal Black Pearl, but is black on black with tinted windows a bit................black?

wear sunglasses, suit and carry a silver pen always

I like those kind of schemes :) does it allow for any Honda or a pre selection

It is a small selection so not much choice of fit. They all come with black roofliner. These are the colour choices -

Alabaster Silver Metallic
Brilliant Sporty Blue Metallic
Crystal Black Pearl
Milano Red Solid
Polished Metal Metallic
White Orchid Pearl

There are other vehicles available but their pricing on the sport models at the moment is why we have decided to look to sell our Golf to free up the cash and get one instead.

Yeh the new EarthDreams engines are fantastic, wait for the petrol ones to come out, Honda have put a lot of work into these, starting to rediscover their mojo.

Well in all honesty I thought I'd have a car tonight :(
Oh how wrong I was lol

Paintwork was an absolute mess.
Didnt seem keen on letting me drive it, or happy that I wanted to look under the bonnet.
Finally managed to get "permission" to drive it, felt nippy enough, seemed very crashy but we got back and there was fluid leaking from under the car.

He actually said "you broke my car" and then started taking pictures of me and my brother, even took one of his lass in the car, bang out of order.

Said I'd leave it lol

£20 Insurance admin fee wasted
£20 HPI check wasted

Saved potential ballache lol

Is it weird to be genuinely excited about the petrol Earth Dreams engines, I'm really looking forward to seeing the specs they decide on

I'm looking forward to them too, it should be interesting how they apply them to the cars, the 1.5 turbo unit could make a fun pocket rocket. Let's just hope they don't cack up for EDM, as European market is of very little interest to them.

Quick EP3 CTR question.

My brother has the above car and one of his front calipers doesn't sound too clever, it kind of clunks on. Anyway, would this cause the ABS light to come? It's always on now. What else could it be?

Would that cause the ABS light to come on and stay on? Best to replace both calipers or just the one that's seized?

It's a possibility but I'm not too sure as both are related to braking.

Depends how bad the other side is aswell. You could try cleaning the current ones up, grease the slider pins aswell and check the state of the centre piston along with all the seals? :)

Interesting, maybe a clunk isn't the correct term but it's certainly not normal. Best bet is probably to get a reader and see what codes it's throwing up for the ABS light being on.

Does it actually brake as normal? No issues when braking physically, like pulling to one side, juddering etc?

Could be the ABS pump gone faulty and making some noise.

May also be two separate issues, ARB drop link and ABS speed sensor for example. As above, get the code read, it's free (look on YouTube/TRO for guides), then raise the car up and use a rubber mallet and hit the suspension components etc and see if anything is moving or making a noise. A knackered drop link should be easy to spot.
