Type R and VTEC owners

Undecided what to do with the Civic.

It's just had a service and MOT yesterday and I'm thinking of selling.

Cosmetically it's crap. Needs a front end respray and wheel refurb and could do with a good polish. It's just about to tick over 110,000 miles and it's a 2003 PFL.

Do I clean it up myself which will cost about £400-£500 or sell it as is?

Or do I keep it and start fettling with it as I have no idea what to replace it with without spending 5 figures. Only thing I've changed so far in 3 years is the exhaust.

Absolutely no idea what to do!

Do you like the car? If so, it's worth spending the money on it IMO. Just do one thing at a time if it's too much money to shell out in a oner, get the wheels done first, then save up and after the winter get the front sprayed. Polish you can do yourself after the paint.

Why not just keep driving it if you dont want to spend money on the bodywork, so long as its fine mechanically. No point in repairing it and then selling it, waste of money repairing it for someone else IMO, you wont make the money back.

I love it when I'm in the mood to push it. Even more so on trackdays. Just fancy something faster and with a turbo.

Yeah I feel if i repair it then I'll start worrying about where I park it. At the moment I couldn't give a toss.

Sounds like my situation. Mine has done 114,000 though and is a '52. :)

I've owned mine since 2005 when it had just 26,000 on the clock and I still enjoy driving it (probably helps our other car is a 1.4 Corolla and I only do about 2000-3000 miles a year in the EP3).

Only things I'd consider swapping it for are RWD and newer: 350Z, E46 M3, E9x M3, Monaro, VXR, S2000 etc etc but decent ones as you say are 5 figures and not sure it's really worth it as it would be a bit of an expensive ornament considering my miles.

Think at some point (depending on how EP3 prices go) I'll strip it, supercharge it and use it as a track toy.

That home-made S2000-engined thing looks mental.

I miss my old Honda, was the only Honda that deserved to be called a pocket rocket.

Wish I kept it, but may import a genuine Mugen one when I go through a mid life crisis

lol

Latest news on the delayed New Type R's is that they are blowing valves and they have changed production for engines to Ohio hence the delays and stonewalling by Honda to all those STILL waiting for deliveries.

So glad I cancelled the order now.

Speaking of TGM, the wife's Mondeo is there at the moment for *another* electrical issue that is proving hard to track down :(

Half tempted to sell the damn thing and buy something Honda

Got a source or more information on this?

Nope just posts on Honda_UK FB page from frustrated customers. This one was what one was told by a dealer.

Honda are stonewalling all potential / waiting Type R owners with unexplained delivery delays for over 2 months now.

Ah OK, I'll have a scour. Thanks.

Are you waiting on the new Type R ?

There are many potential Type R owners frustrated and not being told anything from Honda UK. I have counted at least 4 alone on their FB cancelling the orders after 4+ failed deliveries and no explanations. The place is full of rumours and Honda saying nothing on their own page.

Still waiting for Auto Express to finalise the article with me on the whole sorry affair.

Shocking really.
