Type R and VTEC owners

Some say it's called a 'Bonnet Bra' , it makes you look like a complete **** and easily sets you apart as a knuckle dragger.

Was gonna say, 2 of my mates have Fiesta ST's and another has a type r. They are pretty level cost wise. MPG, tyres, reliability etc

my ST used to average around 27-30mpg.
my EP3 does around 20-25mpg

the cost difference wasnt night and day but was noticeable.

i think it had more of an impact on me as i owned a cheap to run car in the interim much the same as Stormster did with that astra he had.

what an absolute mess they have made of that car. :(

why cant they just leave EP3s alone or do tasteful mods to it.

The ST cheaper? How? My ST was crap on petrol, just cheaper on insurance.

My FN2 is better on fuel and also cheaper to insure than my Fiesta ST was, (this is true despite pranging the S2000, so adding a fault total loss claim to my insurance record, before getting the Civic).

My Civic is going back to Honda next week for some more warranty work, master cylinder replacement, hopefully this will cure the annoying 'click' near the bottom of the pedal travel, at least for a while - it seems a recurring issue on these. Wonder what courtesy car I will get this time, I haven't had a Jazz yet

I got the car back from the bodyshop today, had a dent pulled, some scratches polished out, partially debadged rear (I pulled off the civic badge but it left a weird effect in the paint, the paint was somehow lighter underneath the badge than around it, and it wouldn't cut out using tcut, scratch x or various other things I tried). Also had the gash silver fuel filler cap cover painted body color ala Mugen M20 concept.

Well it's here, drives like a dream but has a few niggles.

1. Cigarette lighter doesn't work but the one in the arm rest does.

2. Little switch in the passenger door that activates the interior light missing and just a white connector sticking out

3. Wing clearly been resprayed as masking tape was still on the headlight

4. Bonnet looks like a golf ball with all the stone chips.

5.USB lead missing (popped into the local honda and they gave me one for free.... I didn't even buy it from there!)

6. Drivers mat clip missing so keeps getting lifted by the clutch.

7. Windscreen wiper nut cover missing on drivers side

And it's been washed badly with white marks on every raised bit and all over the grills!

Once I've been away next week ill get it all fixed up!

Approved Honda used car?

Mine was in slightly better nick than that but it still had to go back for a couple of silly things that should not have been present had it been checked over properly!

I can insure a fn2 for exactly half the price of my ep3 will. I think it has more to do with there being more ep3s than fn2 on the road

Maybe because 90% of the EP3 Type R owners are knuckle draggers and 50% of the cars have been written off at one point.

Saying that, i am seeing less and less EP3's.

I think you and Rybo are both right. After my s2000 crash I considered all of the following cars:

Another s2000
Z4 2.5 or 3.0
Bmw 130i
Golf GTI mk5
Focus ST
EP3 CTR
350Z
Dc5

The s2000 was silly money that I couldn't justify, z4 was about 1600, everything else qas around £1300, then the Fn2 was 646 even with mods declared! I know three other Fn2 owners, two of whom live in slightly dodgy parts of Birmingham, all find it very cheap to insure compared to similar cars in terms of value and performance.

Lot better on juice, I'm getting about 60-65 miles to a tenner instead of 45 now (around town!). Cheaper tax, cheaper insurance, it's gonna work out a lot cheaper on parts. For the way I drive nowadays it's fine, it's fun, cheap to run, quick enough when I am (rarely) in the mood, brilliant traction and handling and drives nice.

I do miss my EP3 a bit but not enough to want another one :)

Shame the new dude has stuck that thing on the front, he said he had some 16" bright blue painted rotas of some form fitted for a bit! lol.

The guy with the 10 grand FN2. Did you not check the car over at all? I check it to within an inch of it's life so it's completely my fault if I miss something and buy a rough car and I've never spent near that kind of money..

Deal was done on the s2000 today, trader friend is buying it off me so no hassle sale.

One final blast around in it this week then it'll be gone :(

I can see me getting another in future, been an amazing car all round.

proper emo today

Gen 2 DC2 Mugen spoiler came up on ebay; I decide to drive up and get it to ensure it dosen't get broken. Spoke to the guy and I offered asking, at about 8pm last night we spoke again I'd be coming for noon the next day. Get to within 10 miles (300 mile round trip) and he said someone came to buy it last night....

Total choad.
