Type R and VTEC owners

Decided I'm going to go ahead and get mine wound up a bit, new target of a minimum 650bhp but waiting for the current engine spec to be confirmed else I'll go higher if it'll support it as the costs/parts will be the same anyway.
 
Woo, yay etc.

My brake discs have arrived, so I'll hopefully be dropping the car off at TGM this weekend to have the following done in the next few weeks:

Fit/setup:
- Meister R GT1
- Brembo 6 pot calipers
- 355mm two piece discs
- Pagid RS29 pads
- Goodridge Braided lines
- Uprated fluid

Along with a new alternator belt, fresh engine oil & gearbox oil plus friction modifier to try and quieten the diff.
 
Let us know how you get on with the Pagid RS29s, I imagine mine will need changing soon-ish and I'm currently on DS2500.

Currently specced up the following bits to allow me to get more from the turbo set-up. Engine work required to run more than 600bhp reliably so that'll be relegated to winter when I won't want the car for a month or two.

Mishimoto 10-Row Thermostatic Oil Cooler
Mishimoto Compact Baffled Oil Catch Can + Drainkit
New radiator, probably Japspeed unless Mishimoto hurry up and release their FN2 rad.
Hybrid Racing Fuel Rail
Full fuel return system as the 255 Walbro won't cut it any further.
Gauges for coolant, oil pressure + temp.

Cage/Buckets/Harnesses to go in then once I've fully stripped and painted the interior but not in any particular rush just yet.

I've used them before and they're phenomenal. So much so I really don't see any reason in trying anything else. A few mates with similar cars also feel the same. They're in a completely different league to DS2500 which are one of the most over-hyped pads going.

Really? It looks like part of the suspension that probably should be attached. Can't find my Haynes for love nor money.

Would be awesome if you could check yours though, I won't be able to buy a new Haynes until tomorrow.

All looks normal compared to mine, no knocks. Last time I had a knock it was the shocks. Check around them if they're wet or oily.
 
So went round the parents house and had a sit in the fathers S2000 as I always do because I always wanted one.
he said the garage he got his from had a red one in stock, went over to have a nosey as It was a nice day, drove away in this red S2000 i am in love, I will miss the civic but the timings right and if I don't buy one now I might regret it forever.

so say hello to the new car, 55 plate S2000 with cat back exhaust full service history. the paint is in need of a polish and wax

Awesome! Looks lovely in red and the 2005 cars are a sweet spot in terms of tax and looks. I bet it sounds brilliant with the exhaust. Get the air box lid off and drive it like you stole it! I’d buy another one of these in a heartbeat if I were in need of a track toy/won the lottery etc etc!

Don’t worry too much about it in the winter. The handling in the wet is very good and I found that with winter tyres on I lost grip in more situations that I gained it. With the geo setup properly it’s the only car that I’ve ever driven that refused to aquaplane. It was so sure footed. Has it had suspension work or recent alignment?

Had a full alignment done, The garage changed the droplinks extra when they got it. got the alignment print outs with the car.

interesting what you say about the winter tyres I was looking at sourcing some winter wheels for some winter tyres, youd advise against it? most my journey in bad weather is all dual carriage way If i want it to be so shouldn't hinder me too much. Just nervous with it being my first RWD car and not wanting to wrap it round a tree haha

On snow or sheet ice with summer tyres, forget it! If you’re on gritted main roads you’ll be fine. The winters I had lost grip in the wet and dry compared to the high performance summers even in the cold. You’ll have plenty of time to get to know the car before the winter anyway. Even in the wet you need to be pretty cavalier to get the back out. If the alignment and suspension is sorted it’ll handle very well in all conditions.
 
Always wanted an S2000 but they're just heading north price wise, so had to settle for the cheaper 3.0 Z4 alternative at the time, really need to befriend someone who owns one just to try the 9k redline experience.

I was considering the Z4 but decided against it, don't know why as I hadn't even driven one bit of a Honda fan at heart.
