Typhoon USAGI Still Powerful

The TRMM satellite again flew directly above category two typhoon USAGI, with maximum wind speeds of about 120kts (~130mph), on September 21, 2013 at 0123 UTC as USAGI was passing between Taiwan and the Philippines. Rainfall data from TRMM's Microwave Imager (TMI) and Precipitation Radar (PR) instruments are shown in this image. TRMM PR found rain falling at a rate of over 134 mm/hr (~5.2 inches) in USAGI's eye wall where radar reflectivity values of over 51dBZ were returned to the satellite.

A weaker Typhoon USAGI is predicted to hit Hong Kong tomorrow with wind speeds of 80kts (~92 mph).

Yeah, this was meant to destroy everything in south Taiwan, but the forecast now predicts "light rain". A lot of schools still cancelled though, woo :)

It's hit Taipei hard as I'm here although Taichung where my wife is from has had sunshine all day.

I was in Hong Kong only 4 days wonderful city hope it doesn't get to badly hit.

Oh yeah, sick burn dude, you really showed him...

In what world was that a burn worthy of posting a picture? Its the most generic internet response there is.

Have you ever been in a hurricane/ typhoon ? It really isn't a joking matter

It can be. I mean, it depends where you are, obviously, but if you're not living in a village on a hillside, chances are you'll be ok, unless it genuinely is a "super typhoon" - not the ones the media portray as them, like this.

Usually for us it means a day off work and holing up in someone's house with a crate of beer, playing games to determine who has to go out to get the next crate of beer. Always open, 7/11.

Chill.

Hmm... Why is it that I can't seem to find much info/weather info on this typhoon usagi??

I'm guessing it's not that bad... Considering my cousin in HK seems to be out partying still, with Paris Hilton.... :o
