Typical 6/7 year olds - they need grounding

I follow a Lads & Dads team here in Stoke that has my nephew playing for them.
Its their first season and they've wiped the competition out by winning the league 3 weeks ago and scoring 130 goals against 3
They scored more but you have to stop keeping score at 9-0.
Today was their last match and it was attended by 2 Man Utd scouts who had heard about them.
The lads weren't told so they wouldn't get scared but today they went out and played the worst football ever and lost to a team they have thrashed 4 times this season.
The scouts walked off and said nothing.

So I reckon at least 4 weeks grounding and having their Playstations/XBOX 360s taken off them.

Why ?? Its a good thing to loose. What are they learning from thrashing teams 4,5,6,7,8,9-0 ???

I coach my lads team on a Saturday morning (under 7's) and at that age, getting the right skills is a lot more important than the scoreline they win loose or draw by. Also scouts really shouldn't be coming to games for 6-7 years olds as the kids shouldn't be playing competitive football till they are over 7 years old. When I say competitive I mean in a league format not friendlies.

you can guarantee that they subconciously picked something up from the adults around who knew, so don't blame them - blame yourselves

Definately not a good idea to let them know scouts are watching, so the right thing was done in not telling them. We found out scouts were down to watch us a couple of times and it's impossible for it not to have an effect at that age.

Just put it down to bad timing really, scouts get around more often than you might think so regardless of the opposition, walking all over teams won't go unnoticed just because of one bad visit.

But yes, ground the little ***** for a month. :D

The lads definitely didn't know the scouts were there and in fact the parents didn't either.
Me and my bro in law were standing on the opposite side of the pitch to everyone else so we could yell at his lad and these 2 blokes came to stand near us.
It was a minute later when some Dad from another pitch came to us and said they were Man Utd scouts and we kept our gobs shut until after the match.
Of course me and my bro were a bit more vocal praising the team and making sure these 2 blokes knew they were witnessing the wrong team.
Theres one 6 year old lad called Robert who is the smallest but the most fearless.
He's all over the pitch and gets in some great crunching tackles and I call him Little Nobby (Stiles).
It was nice to hear one of these scouts calling him Nobby Stiles.
