so im after some gps voice navigation software for the mrs's mobile phone.
im recommended some by a friend,

i search google for their site and are met by lots of links to the pirated version

so i ignore them, and i go to the legit website where thier is no trial version.

i send an email into them asking if its compatible, no reply

after a day of waiting im fed up so i download a pirated version to see if it works on the mrs phone, it does so i delete the pirated version from my computer and the mobile

i now buy the legit software from the online store, it goes through successful and tells me it'll email me the details of digital download and licence key etc within 20 mins, it also show an SMTP error on the screen not good.

i wait 3 hours, nothing, i've emailed thier support and nothing, ive waited a couple of days now

great.

the mrs is now saying cant we just use the pirated version. im telling her no as that is a bad thing lol

-sigh-

As you have actually paid for it I would say you have the right to use the pirated version until they send you the download details.

Bingo, this is the difference. He's paid for the thing.

Yes, he doesn't technically own the license but for me this is a grey area of personal preference. He's paid, he's been trying to get the key for days; until getting the legit license I personally would use the pirated version and then switch over. There are plenty of customer service depts who would give that key a lot quicker.

If a company can't provide the service you've paid for but other's can by giving you a cracked version of the same product then **** 'em, you've paid for it so it's their fault for being a rubbish company.

agree. Just use the pirated one. what's the whole point when you paid for it and you still can't use it just because they can't be bother to get it to you???

Whilst I can't stand piracy, I do agree with this. If hes actually paid money to the company for the original product but the download link is fubar, using the pirated version until you get the "proper" one is fine in my eyes.

It is quite amusing tbh.

Me and her were chatting on msn, and both decided we wanted do download the same album. I downloaded a pirate and she bought a digital download. I was listening to my pirate an hour before her legit download finally worked.

I found it rather amusing; she didn't!

The above post is 100% fiction, as the author doesn't condone piracy.
