Hi guys,

I need a couple of new rear tyres for my C30. The factory fit tyre size for my wheels is 215/45 18 93W, but there are very few premium brand tyres in this size and prices are £150 upwards per tyre.

What seems like a popular choice on Volvo forums is to fit 225/40 profile instead. This opens up a much larger choice of premium tyres at much more reasonable prices, my favourite so far being the Continental ContactSport5 at £98ea. The only issue is that the load index is one step down (but speed rating one step up) at 92Y.

Would this tiny difference cause any issues or should I find a tyre that meets the minimum ratings? Sorry if its a silly question but I've only ever stuck to factory spec tyres up until now.

I'd get the Goodyear eagle F1 or Michelin PE2 in the correct size for 30 quid more each, both are excellent tyres.

Any other input from anyone? Need to get these ordered as soon as poss before I spend the money on something else.
