I want to get a pair of new tyres and noticed that camskill were doing them for a decent price.

How much would you say is reasonable to have a garage fit and balance them?

Thanks in advance.

Garage? Probably about £15 a tyre. If you know a friend or someone who knows a mobile tyre fitter then even less and they will come to you and take away the old tyres :p Mine charges £5 a tyre, for example.

Everywhere i spoke to wanted £12-17.

Remember, with Camskill though you have to factor in the cost of delivery too. Have you looked at blackcircles?

On camskill i can get them for a touch over £40 a corner, but the same tyres on blackcircles fitted are nearly £65.

That's why i wondered if it would be worth getting them delivered from camskill and fitted seperately.

That's ridiculous! You can get a puncture repaired here for only £3 more than £17.

Where is that cheap mate? I have never known anywhere to fit for as little as that.

Ironically, puncture repairs are £12 at the local place, but try and get them to fit your own tyres and they bark at you and want £20.

Theres two places around here I know the price of. One charges by the wheel rim diameter, £1 per inch and the other place is £20 per wheel for fitting and balancing a tyre you supply.

So getting on £20 in both instances then pretty much. Exactly my experience around here.

No you misunderstood, puncture repairs are £20, which is £3 more than he is being charged for just a tyre swap. Your example is even more extreme though! ;)

It's £10 a corner around the various tyre places here for a swap. When I were a lad in the early 90s the local tyre place used to be pound off, pound on and pound for balancing though (if he wasn't busy).

I didnt, i perhaps worded my reply badly. My point is that £10 is very cheap, i need to come over your way to get my next set fitted by the looks of it :p

Just rang a couple of places and the cheapest wanted £17 per tyre, but when i factored in delivery etc from camskill it would be £125 overall anyway.

Decided to go with blackcircles for £129 as i dont have to worry about being around for delivery, and can book my car in to be fitted for one of my days off next week.

The last place I got that price was Protyre over this way, although it feels like last week it was actually in 2007.

Jesus

i pay £5 a tyre for punctures and changovers up here inc fitting/balancing best of all its literally 400yards from my house too :)

Told ya ;)

When i had tyres fitted a couple of years ago everyone on the internetz said it should be no more than £10 and i got a bit of a shock when i phoned up and most said it was about £15 each. Haven't seen it for £10 a wheel for years now and i'd suggest the only people to get these prices nowadays are the dirty northerners :p

local place near me, £15 to fit new tyre
£15 to repair tyre. Surely it takes more time to repair....?

Today I was told £7.50 fitted per tyre..then it was £12.50 including balancing.

So two front fitted(supplied by me) and I got them to put a new valve in a rear wheel....£30 but the guy called it £20.

So I can't complain at that :)
