Tyre Valve Problem

You should be able to replace the inner part of the valve, though baring in mind the cost of the specific screw then replacement part, you'd probably be cheaper getting the entire thing replaced?

Thats what i meant the bit inside the wheel too, its a tenner in a tyre place.
 
If it is just the little valve inside - it should be pennies, but requires a "special" tool to screw/unscrew.

Take some donuts to your local tyre fitter, and they'll probably chuck one in for you :)
 
The special tool comes (or at least came) with some tyre pressure gauges. I've got an old gauge that has the removal tool screwed into the end.

The pin in the middle of the valve may well have just come loose and needs tightening. Shouldn't be particularly costly to sort, unless the tyre has to come off.
 
Sorry to veer slightly off topic but I have another issue with my valve. It seems to be pushed in and sitting at a very awkward angle, making airing up near impossible. Would this be a simple fix or a little more complicated at a fitters?

You won't DIY this one, it'll cost about £5 to £10.

You dont have to do all that, simply let down the tyre, break the seal on one side, slice old valve out and pull new one in before sticking it back to required air pressure. Job done.
 
Sometimes they just stick, push the pressure gauge on and off a few times to loosen/get rid of any crap inside there.
 
the valve tool also comes with the bottles of green tyre gunk, since you have to remove the valve inner to pour the ****e inside
 
Personally I still have the old style wedges I failed to return after I was paid off. Not sure what anybody else will be using. Either way even if he goes to a tyre fitter there is no need to pay for balancing and other than taking if off the car it will take them less than a minute to do so should be dirt cheap. Especially if they can can away with just putting in a new core rather than having to bother with a new valve which would take about ten seconds to try.
 
They all would around here as well simply for the good will. Didn't want to presume other areas would be the same though.
