Hi guys.

My focus had 2 new front tyres about 6 months ago and the drivers side still has about 7mm of tread but the passenger side is down to 5mm of tread. Obviously this is a little strange. Is there any reason for this or is it the way I drive?

Car looks level from the front mate yea. Only thing I would say is the outer edge looks more warn then other parts on the tyre but the rest is even.

Do you take roundabouts a bit nippy... If there are a lot of them where you live it can cause the passenger outer to wear a bit quicker..

no, balancing has no effect on tyre wear. if you have unbalanced front tyres you end up with a wobble through the steering wheel due to the imbalanced wheel.

if you have uneven wear across the tyre (usually the inside edge that gets effected) is more than likely to be down to the tracking.

to have the outside edge of the nearside tyre worn is not uncommon at all due to roundabouts being a common place for abuse to be dished out!

if i get the chance ill post up pics of my front tyres. even wear apart from the shoulder on the near side

Thats good to know, its even all the way across apart from the outside edge! O well its the price to pay for "enjoying" roundabouts :)

Im worried this is getting to the stage where my tyre will become illegal. I have uploaded some pics of it, what do you think? Still legal? Roundabout abuse?

Thanks

It might be worth getting the alignement checked. Try swapping the tyres around and slowing down at roundabouts and see if it wears the same...
