Hey, just need a bit of advice really.
I had the drivers front tyre changed on my ST220 the other week as it had worn bald on the inside edge due to incorrect balancing / alignment (?).
This means I now have a brand new tyre on the driver’s side and a tyre that’s just over half worn on the passenger side. I know you should do both at the same time but as the other tyre still had a load of tread I thought it would be ok.
At the same time I had a four wheel alignment just to make sure all the other wheels were ok.
The problem is that before I had the above work the car would drive in a straight line and now it's veering off to the right. Much more so under acceleration but also the steering wheel doesn't seem line up any more when the car travels in a straight line.
Now I've left it a week thinking the tyre might just need a few miles to scrub in (plus it's been a busy week), but nothing has changed and I want to go back and ask them to fix it.
The thing is I'm wondering if it’s because I've got 2 tyres with different tread levels that is causing the car to wander to the right, or is it because they have messed the alignment up.
They also seem to have stuck a heap of weights on the alloy, seems a bit excessive: (excuse the dirt)
After paying £60 for the alignment I'm a bit annoyed (to say the least) but before I go back moaning, will the fact one tyre has more tread than the other cause a car to wander under acceleration?
Thanks, and yes I know I was being tight by only getting the one tyre done.
