I had the garage put on a set of tyres when I got my old Focus (about 4 years ago) and they put on Avons, which was nice I thought. Don't remember which ones they were unfortunately. After 1000 miles the tread started to de-laminate, I didn't trust them so I changed them. They were a bit mushy and not great in the wet anyway. I wasn't that impressed by the Focus up until that point. Next I went to P6000s all round. Really nice in the dry, really precise. Made the car overall much more fun to drive. However, they were very easy to squeel, gripped up to the limit, then just snapped away, and they were naff in the wet. I also found that they only had to drop by a couple of psi for them to feel awful and loose most of their grip. Next I went to boring Bridgestone's touring tires (I think they've been replaced now) when the fronts wore out. They felt a little sloppier than the P6000s, but they did grip in the wet, they were quietter, and when they did loose grip it was far more predictable and still fun. With the older P6000s on the back, I managed to loose the back end a couple of times when it was damp. Really should have put the Bridgestones on the rear and swapped the part-worn P6000s to the front.
I've got F1s on my Hyundai Coupe V6. After 10k miles they are still fine! Loads of tread left. They are the best tyre I've ever used in the wet, and of course they are excellent the rest of the time too. Very predictable, great feel. Well worth the money. Is it me or do they take a while to warm up now it's cold? Oh, and they are truely, honestly and completely USELESS in the snow. 5mm and you'll slide off the road due to the camber on a residential street.
