I need 4 new tyres for the TT, any thoughts? Performance/handling is a higher priority than wear rate as the car will only be doing 6-7k per year now.

Options I have looked at:

Eagle F1 GSD3 - around £450
Falken 452 - around £300
Bridgestone RE050A - around £450
COn

Any thoughts? The original tyre I believe was the Continental sport contact 3, and I currently have Michelin Sports (had since I bought the car).

Also does anyone know if the rear of the TT is adjustable? I am getting more wear on the inside on the rear tyres so would like to get the geometry checked.

F1's or Potenzas. 1st and 2nd respectively in the last proper Autocar tyre test, F1's being better in the wet, Potenzas in the dry.

What year is your TT?

They all suffer from wear on the inner of the rear tyres, but with the facelift (203 onwards) with the lowered suspension it's worse.

The only real option is a pair of adjustable rear tie bars which allow for the camber to be set up correctly. Looking at about £200 + fitting, which if you plan on keeping the car and need new tyres now is a good idea, as it will save you money in the long run.

Brand wise I'd suggest looking at the Goodyear Asymetrics (sp?) which replaced the GSD3's. I had a couple of sets of the GSD3's and loved them. Then tried a set of the Mitchellin PS2's which lasted longer but were nowhere near as grippy. Went back to the GSD3's which were then rubbish, they changed manufacture to China and the quality was dire. I've now had about 3 sets of the Toyo T1R's which was very good but just don't seem to last that long. Hence me thinking of the GY Asymetrics when I change them next.

I'd get ContiSportContact 3s if you don't mind paying more as i'm very happy with mine.

What do they do that the Potenzas do not which justifies the significant cost difference?

Other than take longer to stop in the wet and aquaplane at lower speeds ;)

I'd show you the German review but i cba to look for it.

Would you care to provide a source for your information?

No, because it's in print form and I cannot be bothered to dig it out and type it up. I'm sure I've done it on here in the past, though.

Is there a new one out, or is this the same one that you've been referring to for ages?

Anyway, it doesn't really matter as all of these tyres are as good as each other.
For some reason the Germans seem to prefer Contis and Pirelli P-Zeros over F1s and Potenzas though.

I doubt i'll get ContiSportContact 3s again though, depends what else is available for a good price.

Just a quick update

I went for the Potenzas in the end and I am hugely impressed, certainly better than the Sport Contacts I had on previously. Ended up paying £120 a corner at a local tyre place which was marginally over the odds but worth it for convenience.

Thanks everyone for your advice.

So it's dry at the moment is it? :)
