Right the ST170 could do with 2 tyres.

I've been ringing round the local places and got a few prices. Now I've been looking at higher end tyres and I can get 2 fully fitted Goodyear GSD3's for £199, 2 fully fitted Avon ZZ3's for £185 or 2 fully fitted Pirelli P7000's for £176.24

For reference they are 215/45/R17 tyres.

So what should I go for are the F1's reallly that good?

*wonders how long before sidewalls of cheese are mentioned ;)*

Are you being serious!? 2 fitted and balanced 215/45R17s my way are £149 for GSD3 inc Vat.

£199...That is helish expensive

was thinkin the same thing.... get a quote off mytyres and then add £15 for fitting. I think I paid about £170 on my focus for 2 GSD3 fronts

erm yeah... Mytyres price ~£90 x2 = £180 + £15 fitting = ~£190 - £195

Anyway been and got the f1s fitted seem very quiet so far :)

seems a bargain to me.

My mondeo tyres are 205/50/17 (not that dissimilar in size). You can't even get Eagle F1's, and things like conti sport 2s (extra load version needed) start at about 120 each without fitting.

Think I'm going to go with the Toyo T1-R as they're about 90 each plus fitting.

I got Toyo Proxes T1-R on my mondeo 205-50-16 and have to say they are excellent, i paid £68 per tyre from camskill then £6 each for balancing and fitting.

Cant fault them so far.

I need to replace my front tyres on the Civic coupe ('02 model) currently running bog standard p6000's

what tyres be be a better choice for a reasonable price? (205/50/R16)

The proxies look great but are they worth it?
Are Falken tyres any good?

Had 2 T1-R's on the back of mine recently and I can't fault them one bit :)

No more sliding round wet round-abouts :p

I just got Pirelli P-Zero Nero's on my mondeo seem to be pretty good so far but only done 40 miles on them so still taking it easy. But they have a lot more grip in dry and wet then the michelins i had the side walls are quite stiff as the ride is abit harder now i feel a few more bumps in the road and get better feedback though the steering wheel i reckon they are probably as good as eagle f1's and most people I know who have tried the Nero's love them. :)

I'm pleased with mine (ZE 512's) Plenty of grip in the wet and dry.

I did a bit of reading up and on the whole people seemed to be pleased with them. Not that you can gain much from personal reviews.

If you were to join Costco you could get michaelin pilot sports or similar for a LOT less than that :D

But it also means you'd be stick with Pilot Sports on your car, and it's not really worth the saving if thats the outcome :p

Unless they were PS2s then it would be a result ;)

Ok, so they are not the "be all and end all F1's" that you rant about, but michaelin make excellent tyres for all weather conditions and always have done. There is no denying that, and they make some of the best tyres in the market for all types of cars and all applications be it shopping cart or performance sports.

...But of course fox, unless its your favoured product it doesnt get a look in really, tyres must be Goodyear F1's cars must be either a mondeo or a bmw, get a bit boring after a while, and very predictable.

Well in my experience and those of many others they are excellent in the dry, and just as good in the wet. On all my vehicles (apart from the 90) i run high end michaeling tyres, why? because they grip well giving good handling characteristics and they last well. no point having super sticky rubber that only lasts 6K - 3 sets of tyres a year @ £400+ a set isnt my idea of fun.

I had michelin pilot primacy on my car and they where bad in wet conditions ok in dry conditions but they did last a while. I now have Pirelli P-Zero's on my car and they feel a lot better I just hope they last for a year :)

It's michelin BTW :p :D

Falken ZE-512 or FK-451s are very good. Personally, i've not tried them, but a few guys on Primera Owners Club run with them and say they are awsome, esepcailly considering you can get them for £55 a corner (205/50/16)
