I have 3ml left on my front tyres, I am going on a eurotrip at the end of the month, should they be replaced, the trip will be 1.5k miles.

yeah, may as well

3mm will surely last 1500miles - particularly if it's mostly motorways.

I'd leave them tbh, and get them changed when you get back. I got through about 1mm on my rear tyres in over 3,000 miles. Got them changed when they were down to about 1mm.

He hasn't got 3mm to spare. The legal limit is 1.6mm leaving him only 1.4mm of wear until he's on illegal rubber and looking at 3 points per tyre.

I'd change them.

It's also worth looking at the legal tread limits of any countries you are driving through,as they may be illegal at greater than 1.6mm.

Ah, ok - I assumed 3mm above the markers.

If it's 3mm in total then change them. I changed my rear tyres a couple of weeks back for exactly the same reason. Had about 1mm above the marker, and am doing a 1,500 mile Euro-visit this week.

You should change tyres at 3mm or 4mm anyway. They lose most of their grip up to this point in the wet at least.

Its 2 per tyre ;)

I would change them...You want to have grip don't you.... with bald tyres you are running the risk if an accident was to happen.. when having bald tyres stopping aint going to be that effective.

If your doing 1.5k mile drive... all those motorway miles... you don't want to have an accident do you?

Change them, for your safety!

how are the rears? - if you swap the fronts to the back, and vice versa, they will probably outlast the journey

EDIT: nm.. just read your later post - change them, full stop :P

anyway isnt the marker at 1mm not 1.6? i know for bike tyres bridgestone say that the tyre will be illegal before it hits the depth marker.
