Am interested in a 23" 1080p screen to replace my current Benq FP241W, as I want to go from 1200p to 1080p so I can drive my HDTV at the same time.

The U2311H seems to have a lot of good press and also a lot of bad press re: quality control in particular.

Should I look at the existing model or wait for the next revision?

I think he means the next model which is due to replace it and the others in the range.

Either way, I'd get one now, you won't be disappointed. Dells warranty is second to none so any issues can be sorted by door step exchanges pretty quickly.

In regards to this warranty, is it valid (with Dell) from wherever you buy your monitor?

It is valid from the date that the retailer purchased the monitor from Dell as far as I'm aware. This is printed on the sticker on the outside of the box. Usually 1-2 weeks earlier than the date you order it from the retailer in my experience.
