hello, i'm looking to get a new 1080p monitor (currently only have a 1280x1024 monitor :O) its going to be used for gaming pretty much exclusively so low delay is a priority, from what i've read:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2414h.htm

and a few other reviews this monitor has great image quality and clarity with very low delay or blurring and so far is the top runner. does anyone have any alternatives (similar price) that would be better?

secondly i have read about people having issues with this monitor and nvidia graphics cards where it thinks the monitor is an HDTV and so sets the rgb range to limited (16-235) instead of full (0-255) do AMD cards have this issue to? (i have a 7870xt)

thanks for the help, sorry for the wall of text!

It's an excellent monitor. There are some other models I consider to be on par overall if not slightly stronger in some areas (like default colour setup). But I can't think of a monitor for the price that really gives a much stronger image performance or that matches the input array, adjustability and slender bezels of the U2414H.

As noted in my review which I'm sure you're read AMD GPU users don’t have to worry about the colour signal issue. It works fine for you guys. ;)

Thank you for the reply, much appreciated. You mentioned there are a few others that are slightly stronger, could you list the models please? (I know very little about monitors still gaming on my Dell E197FP!) I can currently get the U2414h for £170.

The Samsung S24D390HL. You only get one HDMI port and a fixed (tilt only) stand though.

just having a look at that model now! there don't appear to be very many reviews on it? (none of the big online stores appear to stock it either? i did write some but they got starred out so....) out of the 2 which do you personally think is better?

I'd go with the U2414H, I have the slightly lesser P2414H which uses the same panel but has the trademark dell bezel (which isn't too bad these days tbh). Fantastic monitor when calibrated properly, I think I actually used the settings from pcmonitors.info too.

It isn't a widely reviewed model. I had a good feeling about it so approached Samsung and asked to review it. I'm sure my review will be the one you read. I've recommended it to several people and they all love it.

Having said that I've recommended the U2414H to many people who are equally happy with it. I personally think the Samsung is better from a technical perspective if you're happy with the style, lack of adjustability and ports etc. But in that sense the U2414H is better value. And it is really a great monitor - even if you had the Samsung side by side with the Dell you wouldn't really think much of the difference I reckon.
