OK so just got onto OCUK and was about to order my U2410 but had a quick look around to make sure there wasn't anything better and found that the new Hazro 30" is a good £46 cheaper than the U2711

so any word on a u2711 price drop because surely people will buy the cheaper hazro 30" over the Dell 27" which has a lower res and is smaller

Unlke Hazro, Dell actually offers a good level of aftersales support. I'm sure some other forum members can fill you in on that one.

i would personally steer clear of the hazro and get the dell

i value warranty and superb customer service over pricepoints

Hi there

DELL won't move their price because of a competitor.

DELL operate a world wide organisation, they sell millions of panels and they will not move on pricing due to a small UK based company trying to offer a better value solution.

So the Hazro is a good value option, OcUK now deal with warranty on Hazro, to save the customer having to deal with Hazro which yes makes the Hazro a good deal. Especially as the Hazro's are actually 3008 panels. ;)

However DELL will not be moving price on any of their lineup. :)

I'll be receiving one of the new Hazro panels very soon (due Monday based on the timetable they gave, but who knows...). It is an RMA for an old 30" screen that went belly up in July. I can post impressions of the screen when it arrives if you like... I already have an HP zr30w (same panel as the Dell u3011) so I will have a high-end 30" screen to compare with.

Getting in contact with Hazro for a return was impossible, but luckily OcUK handled the return for me in the end. That said, Hazro have now been taken over by new owners (at least according to the guy there that I spoke to), so hopefully it won't be quite as much of a drama to return items any more. At least they list contact details on their website now - until about three weeks ago there was absolutely nothing other than a webnote system that they just completely ignored.

As stated above though, a giant multinational, multi-billion dollar company like Dell will not be lowering their prices to compete with a small-time local manufacturer like Hazro.

Yes Hazro has been taken over.

Its taken a month for us to come to an agreement with them to broker a new deal for their new 30" panel, which is based on the DELL 3008 panel.

These new Hazro's are built to a far higher standard, new PSU supplier, same one as DELL which cost 4x more so thats good and the internal circuitry is now much better quality.

So for a 30" based on a 3008 panel they value is exceptional and even though Hazro is under new ownership and are happy to deal directly customers OcUK have decided we will also deal with warranty issues ourselves too which will prevent our customers from getting slow turn arounds.

Thanks for the confirmation on the takeover, Gibbo :) It's good to know that Hazro are in new hands. As far as customer support goes, only time will tell, but they certainly can't be any worse than the 'old' Hazro!

As far as the screen goes, a review is available on TFT central. From their assessment, the screen is very attractive indeed. Yes it is based on the same panel as the Dell 3008, but it has a MUCH lower input lag (14ms vs 47ms for the 3008), which makes it a lot more suitable for PC gaming. No way I would want to play FPS games on a Dell 3008, with a 40ms+ input lag... This being said, it does not have an OSD, and it does not have any internal scaling capacity, so if you're looking for a general-purpose screen that you can run a blu-ray player or PS3/x-box on, then look elsewhere.

Still, at £800 it looks (on paper) to be a cracking value screen. The only drawback as far as I can see is the deal pixel policy. Hazro will only replace for an insane number of pixels, whereas Dell or HP will replace for a single sub-pixel defect. But, you get what you pay for, and the Dell / HP equivalents are a good £250+ more expensive.
