I've just been sent a brand new U2713H as a warranty replacement for a 2 year old U2711 and I was wondering how well they stack up?

I was expecting a refurbished U2711 tbh so quite surprised when UPS man handed me a U2713H instead

TFT Central's review of the U2713H has a nice comparison between these two at the end - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2713h.htm.

As I also concluded from my own testing it's a worthy successor to the U2711. It is more efficient, has better contrast, has a much better screen surface (better clarity and vibrancy) and has a decent sRGB emulation mode. Enjoy it.

Good news indeed. I was a bit concerned the LED display wouldn't match up with the CCFL and read all sorts of woe stories about the lesser U2713HM. Haven't unboxed it yet looking forward to setting up and comparing side by side before the U2711 is collected.

The TFT Central review is very reassuring though :)

Slight thread resurrection but so glad to be reading this. uniQ, what has been your experience so far? I got handed the U2713H as a replacement for my U2711 as well, but haven't had the chance to open it yet. You liking it as a replacement?

Less-slight thread resurrection. This might be a bit of a long shot but I was wondering if anyone had any side by side experience with the U2711/U2713H.

I'm in the process of complimenting my existing U2711 with another two monitors for a triple screen setup. I've got one more U2711 coming via ebay, but there's not a lot of them around and I'm wondering about getting a 2713H to use as the centre screen. Obviously the ideal way to do triple screen is with three identical monitors, and I'm wondering how big a risk I'd be taking by using the different Dells. Am aware that the anti-glare coating is much less aggressive on the newer model, but does it result in a significantly different image when gaming?

Any opinions would be much appreciated.

Also realise I need to check the sync polarity is the same at various resolutions or nvidia surround will be a no-go. Pretty sure I found that somewhere for the 2711 so hopefully it's available for the '13.

I haven't had them side by side due to mine being a replacement, but I remember my old 2711 very well.

The image on that had much more red in it than I'd like compared to the 2713H. This was made even worse by having a 2412 sat next to it. Looking at the 2412 made the 2711 look obviously red, looking at the 2711 made the 2412 look overly blue.

It ultimately all comes down to the type of LED they've used in each monitor I think. From what I understand/can see, the LEDs in the U2713H are much more neutral, at least compared to it's predecessor.

As for the anti glare coating, it wasn't until I got the 2713 that I realised how bad it is on the 2711, to that end I would have thought that having them side by side would be incredibly annoying.

Ultimately, I'd say you're better off keeping all of your displays the same, keep the colour as uniform as possible so it isn't distracting to your eyes.

Dave - what is the reason you got a replacement for?

My U2711 makes a buzzing noise at anything less that 100% brightness.

I had a weird yellowy gradient running up the bottom half of the display. If you're having that weird buzzing noise most of the time I would say you could get that replaced.

If you need the monitor calibrating properly you'd never have it on 100% brightness, and as these are considered professional grade monitors, they'll more than likely swap it out for you, and as the 2711 is I delete now they'll almost certainly replace it with a new 2713. Give it a shot! They'll advance replace it as well so you can have them side by side for a day to test out too :)

Ah sweet. Thanks.

I run my monitor at about 35% brightness usually and 10% in the evenings.

The pitch and volume of the buzz does vary (sometimes very noticeable) and it also comes and goes. I hope Dell aren't to fussy about it.

What would happen if they send me a replacement, and when they get mine back and after testing it they don't think the buzz is a big issue?
