Uber account problem

Hi,

In June 2015, I set up an Uber account on my phone with credit card etc. I never actually used it until recently on a night out when I tried to summon a cab but the app kept saying my card had been declined. Actually, this was correct because the registered card had expired.

Anyway, I went to try and update the registered card on the account to a new one but there was no option within the app to allow me to do so. Eventually, I decided to reinstall the app to enter a new card number but they seemed to be completely rejecting my account.

I then went on to the site and concluded my account must be suspended.

So, I went on to Uber and entered the details to request it be reactivated, whereupon they send you an email to confirm your address.

They keep saying I'm emailing from the wrong address (in spite of my account being full of their stupid promotions). They've asked me to confirm the 'correct' email address but I don't know what they're talking about because I've got no other email address registered with them???

So, because my problem doesn't come under their set categories, the problem therefore doesn't exist and they're now ignoring me!

I can't even delete the account which my phone number is connected to because I have to log into Uber but I can't log in.

I've tried resetting the Uber password but after entering the email address I use, Uber don't send me a reset link??

Needless to say, I now can't contact anyone about the issue.

Might you possibly have typed in a different email address during the initial registration you completed?
Or perhaps mistyped it and never realised your error as it took you more than a year to actually finish setting up the account?

You do not appear to ask anything, so I assume you are telling us your tale of woe with a company you couldn't be bothered to finish registration with for a year.

-edit
I note you manage slightly over one post year on here also, impressively low.

No, like I stated, I have a load of Uber's promo emails in my account too until I disabled them.

What am I asking? Well, I've started a thread explaining a problem - maybe you need to re-read it to see what I'm asking.

I occasionally come on here to get advice on computers and to see what people recommend. My problem is that I'm not a tech geek and have vastly way less knowledge than the majority of the common visitors here. THEREFORE, I don't have much in the way to contribute regarding the issues discussed on this forum even if I wanted to. Is there a law against lurkers?

I posted the Uber problem here because I thought it might be something a 20-something app-crowd might be aware of.

tbf, there is no question and the only use of question marks i see, make it seem like you are unsure of your story.

OK, maybe I should have prefaced the question with something like:

What does one do in this situation[see OP] with Uber?

I had a very similar problem ! Uber not accepting cards once the old one had expired even though in the same name and using the scan service in app.

Turns out I had also added my PayPal as a payment method and was getting lots of emails to that account which made me believe that was also the email I signed up with except it wasn't

(Uber have the worst support service out there for such a big company , took several weeks to get mine fixed once I contacted uber on the right email address)

Got any other email addresses you might have used ?

Yea, your problem sounds almost identical to mine (minus the paypal bit).

I've checked all my other email accounts and there's no sign of uber anywhere except the one I try to contact them from, which I'd registered my phone with.

OK, I tried emailing Uber from another email account, which I thought might be the one on their database though I don't remember using it i.e. when I went on to their site and went to the 'account suspended' option, I entered that email address.

Uber are now saying the problem is resolved and I just have to reset my password by clicking on their link, which I did but there's no new password.

This is all highly incompetent of them and strange. It almost feels like they wanted me to give up my other email address - the email I use for most of my buying activity.

Oh, it gets worse.

Further to message from Uber saying the problem is now resolved and that I have to reset my password by clicking on the link, which I did, I received no new password. In that message, it says:

Continue this conversation by replying to this email.
So, after not receiving a new password, I replied to their email as requested above. Then, I got another email back saying:

Thanks for getting in touch.

We received this email from a different email address than the one you initially used to contact us.

In order for us to address your inquiry, please contact us from that email address.

We appreciate your patience and look forward to hearing from you.

So, I'm just going round in circles here. Well, at least I know now.

What's curious here is that I WANT to use their service but I can't. I'm obviously not alone with this problem, which means UBER must be losing millions!
