My Uber eats account was hacked last night. Greedy, thieving tossbags helped themselves to £20 worth of maccies.

Luckily Monzo refunded me within the hour as Uber themselves can’t even be bothered to reply to my messages. Going to deregister all my cards with these services and stick to Apple Pay in future.

my iPad was flashing up messages of a data breach at Uber and my account was signed into from 2 different locations, Hackney and Bury. Giving you guys a warning as it’s probably not just my details that have been got at.

I'm not sure, that's for them to deal with and a slong as you get your money back let them worry about that. That's their problem to deal with the fraud.
On most websites, they use an Authentication system whereby you have to enter your pin. For some reason it’s not used on Uber.

The same thread that bought us such thought leadership as hackers hacking food sites will buy food once said food site is hacked :D

And unfortunately people who think they are entering their pin on an online transaction which is deeply worrying for many reasons :D

Trolling again are we

Mate if your entering your pin number on a website you doing something seriously wrong :D

Its not a website, its an authorisation procedure on the Monzo app. When you click to buy, a notification comes up on your phone from Monzo, and you enter the pin to authorise the transaction. Its a mastercard ID check.

:D Scotland yard don't process everyone's UberEats. You can order food to anyone's address and either intercept on the way in (flats) or a place of business. I.e. 'front of Barclays on the high street'.

It's a 'victimless' crime of exceptionally low value. I would be pretty cross if my tax money was funding recovery of a 20 quid maccies order.
It's not really victimless when you're stealing someone's money.

Why you guys use Uber eats to buy food? I thought everyone just uses it as a menu and then phones up the place to get everything 10 to 20% cheaper anyway?

I dont really use it much any more. Their fees are getting ridiculous. Just Eat are far better imo. At least round here anyway.

This is what they ordered if anyone's remotely interested

Why have a small drink and medium fries when you're stealing it. Got to go large surely?

i was curious if it was ordered to a block of flats or somewhere were it could be easily intercepted
Yes, first one was a block of flats in a small cul-de-sac. Easily intercepted, and the second one was delivered to Kingsland shopping centre in Dalston.

Wouldn't that mean the food just gets wasted?

Presumably you are against the convenience of contactless card payments too.

Have you sorted your password issue out yet?
Why would it mean food being wasted?

I've changed all passwords on websites holding any financial info.

Do you know though, I have sent 3 support messages about this to Uber and they haven’t even acknowledged it. Complete silence. That’s pretty awful when you think about it.
