Uber slow wireless transfers :(

Hoping you chaps can help me out with my network problem.
I've got a sky wireless router and wireless g cards in my computers.
Just built a new rig and wanted to transfer files from my old system to then new.
Problem is it seems to be extremely slow to me, a 3.5gig file wanted to take almost two hours :(
both systems are running xp pro.
Any ideas?

Yes that is extremely slow, with 802.11G with perfect signal you'd expect that to take about 30 minutes so yours is very slow.
It's not a solution for slow speed but why not just connect the drive to your new system directly? It'll take less than a minute to do the transfer then.
 
i found that using utorrent to transfer files over my wireless network is pretty speedy. just create a torrent with no trackers, then load it up on the other pc, it will either just start working, or you can add the other local ip with rick click->add peer in the peer list in utorrent
