My marra signed up to be a delivery driver, got his first ping, it's for some trendy eatery 19 miles away. He declined it and that was that.

Theres me thinking that delivering for the local Chinese at £1 a go was bad.

Anyone else do or done UberEATS deliveries? Sounds like a right con.

not gonna be very trendy by the time it's done 19 miles getting flung about in the passenger seat :D

The restaurant was 19 miles away where he had to pick the food up from. Who knows how many more miles to the customer after that!

It says on the UberEATS website that drivers can cancel if they think a pick up point is too far. Where is the issue on his side?

Signs up for take away deliveries.
Declines first delivery request.

Not sure what he thought would happen? That they'll all be within 100yds of his house?

Students and younger people are literally falling over themselves trying to get these jobs for deliveroo and Uber eats I couldn't think of anything worse than cycling round with that big stupid bag on your back carrying the food. I've seen them everywhere by mine lately. One was swaying all over the road like he was on the last stages of the Tour de France obviously knackered. Your food is going to be a right mess by the time it turns up.
I don't get why anyone would choose to do this for less money than driving around in your car delivering pizza's.

19 miles isn't remotely close to 100 yards. Nor is it what I'd consider reasonable. Would you spend an hour + the car for the £2.50 delivery fee?

To expect someone to cover 19 miles on a bicycle is just laughable. Its a sad world we live in when there is a ton of people willing to do this as a minimum wage job. I mean look at the size of the ridiculous bag they have to wear! can you imagine walking into a posh restaurant sweating from all the cycling with that monstrosity on your back to pick up the food. I would feel embarrassed. Surely the whole point of paying restaurant prices for good food is the whole dining out experience not to have it delivered to your door by a sweaty cyclist.

Does the driver get £2.50 or is that the cost to the end user. If you have an actual earnings sheet I'd be interested to see it.

If it's paid per mile then I'd expect it to be more than £2.50.

They get paid per delivery which is about £4-£5 from what i have heard which means if the restaurant is 20 odd minutes away and then the same time to the persons house they are sometimes earning less than minimum wage! But still all the students etc are loving it because its a cool job where you get to use an app and you get your jobs through on your phone and work when you like.

You will receive one pick up fee every time you go to a new restaurant. You will receive one drop-off fee for each separate order you deliver.

NOTE: The minimum payment that you will receive for each delivery is £5.33 (Before Uber's service fee)

so not £2.50 then

wait what..

lol you actually believe that? Its the same for those door to door canvassing jobs that say you have potential earnings of £100 per day when in the real world nobody answers there door and you end up on about £4p/h.
Most Uber eats drivers are lucky if they earn minimum wage after Uber take there 25% cut.

Lol id love to see a payslip to prove that.

Would change careers
its smoke and mirrors marketing by Uber to attract people to the job. A quick Google shows most people barely scrape minimum wage for cycling around like a madman all night when you could just go and stand in a shop for the same money.
