hey guys

Just bought and installed anno 2070 from GMG. I installed the game and when i opened it, it asked for the cd key which i entered.

All was good and it finished installing etc. Then it told me i needed to create a Uplay account to play my game (PITA but oh well). I created a game and it detected i had anno 2070 installed and it added it to my games list.

When i try to log in on anno 2070 it keeps asking me to put in my cd key to tie it to my uplay account. I keep trying it but it wont have it

Have i just lost my £14? If so what kind of BS system is this? It should have made me create a Uplay account first!!!!!!

******* fuming :mad::mad::mad:

I had something similar a while back, worst client software ever....for me.

Not sure how you can sort it though, sorry.

There must be two versions of uplay..as the first version I installed wouldn't work
The second version I installed did work..

Think it was a version of Uplay that installed with one my games that wouldn't work
and I had to download uplay from Ubi website..

^^I just had a look at the uplay installer sizes ^^

The uplay installer that included with anno is only 17.9MB
The uplay installer that you download from ubi-website is 23.4M

Activate the game more than 5 times and you are instantly branded a master criminal and banned from playing the game without sending UBi a photo of the manual showing serial, Box and receipt.

Explain that you purchased from GMG and they send you a link to the game on Uplay and advise you buy a genuine copy.

They are truly Horrid to deal with... Good luck.

Download Uplay from Ubisoft directly then also look at their support forums to see which ports need to be forwarded on your firewall.

And this is why piracy is a problem in the game industry. Because companies like ubi lock down their products like Fort Knox and are surprised when people pirate it, despite the fact that it is easier and simpler for people to pirate it rather than jumping through hoops to make their legit games work.

Ubisoft have lost a lot of customers over their DRM, myself included.

I understand the need to deal with piracy but DRM that grants a 'pirate' a better user experience than a paying consumer just seems wrong to me. I believe Ubisoft have at least now removed the always connected requirement to some of their catalogue which is at least some progress.

Really is a shame as Ubisoft have developed/published some really great games over the years. I get what they are trying to achieve with Uplay but seriously, playing games is meant to be fun, the last thing I want to do is have to do work to get to play.

I had this issue when I reinstalled the latest splinter cell. I sent off a ticket and got a really informal email back that referred to me by first name which I thought was really unprofessional. Anyway what they suggested didn't work and I sent another email back to which the responded that I should call the US helpline. Needless to say I went ballistic. Will never ever ever BUY another Ubisoft game again!

Cheers for the replies.

I'll try the client from the website and see what happens. Failing that I'll just crack it. Absolute morons!! I've sent a km message to GMG and ubisoft but from what I've read I'm not getting my hopes up :(
