Ubisoft Assassin's Creed Goes Gold

Yet another groundbreaking, earthshaking game title has gone gold this month. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Ubisoft Montreal's Assassin's Creed are now being manufactured and will hit stores on November 13, Ubisoft announced today. A $69.99 limited edition, said to pack a figurine and other goodies, will be available along with the standard $59.99 version. The PC version of the latest stealth adventure title from the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time team was originally scheduled to release alongside the console iterations, but was recently delayed until early 2008. I'm very keen to see how the reviews go for this.

I've had a feeling all along the way that the game won't match the potential it has shown. I just hope it does end up being as good as it looks like it could be.

I have to agree, the AI in the videos I've seen is shocking and if that's not fixed the game is utterly pointless. I will be waiting for reviews before I think about buying it.

Yep, they use to line up to attack you almost :p

Game looks amazing, will be a complete shame if this one thing lets it down. Anywho, there should be a demo up soon maybe?

My brother in law and gf bought a 360 for this and Fable 2. Ubisoft Montreal rarely let us down so I have high hopes.

That's not usually a good sign.

Thats exactly what I was thinking, initially everyne was drooling over this, myslef included, things seem to have gone a bit quiet of late, the last few previews I read were not all so positive, now the game has gone gold with no reviews around, very strange.

I had it on pre order around 8 months ago, I have cancelled that until I see a review or 2, the last vids I saw all looked very samey and the combat looked a bit detatched and dull.

The sword combat does look like the weak point, although as that's not really the point of the game, functional will do for me.

I had heard the "lock on" during swordfighting was very detracting from the immersion but it seems to be a single small icon above the target which really is no problem at all. Looks like a ton of fun - roll on 16th November :D

Jade Raymond will be demoing the latest build (I assume the last considering it's gold) on Oxford Street (London) this Saturday at [competitor]'s flagship store. The press release was on Kotaku a few days ago.
