Yep same here

went to have a game of Splinter Cell Blacklist and uPlay claimed i had a problem with my internet connection and couldn't log in.

Dear Uplay members,

An emergency maintenance on Uplay PC will take place today, September 5th, at 4pm (French Time) for an estimated duration of 4 hours. During this time, you may experiment disconnections from your game parties and chats.

[New update - 6:00pm French ime] From 8:00pm and 8:15pm (French time), there will be a server reboot. This will affect login in every game and Uplay services (PC and website).

Why on earth would they do maintenance in the middle of the evening?!
Just makes common sense to do it during the night.

During the day on a weekday would be the best time.
