UbiSoft servers down today = No single player gaming

Got to wonder if this causes Ubisoft to pull out of the PC games market. As not worth the hassle of supporting PC market if revenue is too small compared to hassle of DRM and alike.

The $$'s will be worth the hassle regardless of this hiccup, i call it that because one way or the other it will be different next time... either it will work or they won't use it.

Assassins Creed is massively popular and $50-$60 in the US i'm sure they'll be raking it in regardless of the current problems.

I've got the first AC game on Steam and I'm sure they had AC2 listed as a pre-order title for months. Now theres no mention of it (which prompted me to have a peak here on the forums). Unless I imagined it.

Until AC2 is on Steam and behaves like all other Steam games, I'll wait! Shame though, was really looking forward to AC2.

I'm pretty sure that I read that AC2 on Steam will use UbiSoft's DRM, it won't use Steam's. Not that it matters as for some reason Steam will be selling AC2 everywhere except in the UK, which sucks. I'm really not keen on the DRM system but if i was to get AC2 anywhere it would have been on Steam as if you pre-ordered it then it came with all the ingame bonus locations found in the console Black editions.

AC2 still on steam..http://store.steampowered.com/app/33230/

But not available to buy in the UK yet

I remember reading somewhere that AC2 was at #2 in the steam sales charts and that SH5 was at #9

So sales are still very very good irrespective of the DRM. And this is just steam, where you'd imagine the buyers would be a little more clued in than the man on the street regarding DRM.

Ubisoft were moving away from PC games (or at least more console ports) long before they thought of this DRM.

The only thing from this is that it's showing other publishers that they really need a decent service before putting DRM on their games with the load and any DoS attacks.

Do any of you posting in here actually have the game?

I do, and in fact I am playing the game right now, ALT-tabbing out to type this. And I did yesterday as well. I have had zero problems with the DRM. I have not been thrown from the game even once, and got the game on launch day.

Why are we posting in two threads about the same thing. Dennis even posted the same post in both threads

I think we should argue different sides in each thread!:D

Every other day someone yell "Switch places!!" i na mad hatter voice and we all shuffle round :p
