There seems to be a lot of misinformation floating about in regard of this. According to the Ubisoft spokesman mentioned on an episode of a recent podcast, the only accounts which would get made inactive are accounts which havent been logged in for 4 years and dont have any games on them. However some folks on reddit and youtube have run with the idea that accounts with games on them will get closed down, some people even claim theirs have been (yet havent provided any actual proof).

Either way, the damage is done now because regardless of it not being the truth enough people now think that accounts with games will be closed

Don't see a problem tbh. I'm actually surprised more cloud based services don't have clauses in t&C's to state that inactive accounts would be closed.

Disagree. If they've sold you a product through that service to "keep" then they should be obliged to continue to grant you access to it or compensate you for your loss of access to it.

Edit: it's been highlighted that they apparently won't close your account if you've bought something, so it's pretty much ok.

There is so many platform I dont even remember which one has games and which one doesnt. I've logged in to check, hopefully that will tick the recent activity box

There are quite a few developers/publishers who "sunset" games without preserving any way to access them (and no compensation) - personally I won't buy anything again from those companies.

Blizzard actually did the same thing as this with battlenet accounts in 2015 but not much of a big deal was made of it, possibly because Blizzard were much liked in 2015 whereas Ubisoft are much disliked in 2023. Mind you, as the Ubisoft spokesman was revealed on the podcast saying that if you have games then your account isnt deleted its all a bit of a non-issue. Then again, non issues dont get clicks on social media, so its easy to see why the runaway anger train has occurred.

If that's the case then it's ok. Although they still need to **** off with the whole making you sign into an Ubisoft account to play a single player game on a console BS.

They need to make a statement explaining it all in a much more clear fashion, they have been far too ambigious with their wording and thats caused this to get into the mess it is. The damage, or a large amount of it at least, is already done now (perception/belief is 9/10s of the law etc etc) so this is all mostly their fault for bad press management. I expect they will make some additional statement in the coming days which will be much more black and white but they've certainly not done themselves any favours with their current press wordings.

Not a fan of Ubisoft myself. I avoid them when I can. Would not surprise me if it were true.

Would be nice if someone else buys them. Maybe Sony

just means they lost customers.
there are games i dont touch for donkeys years and randomly decied to go back to them for a while like say Bridge Crew
or it'll mean an increae in piracy

they cant take my Board games !

Here we go, as per my earlier posts, Ubisoft have re-confirmed that NO account which has games on it will be deleted. Told you that it was just fakenews scaremongering by people on the net to drum up even more hatred of Ubisoft or to get hits on their social media accounts

Ubisoft deserve their hatred ... from me at least, just sayin :)
I'm sure that some people have legitimate grievances against them, I cant say that I do, I've had more than my fair share of fun out of such Ubisoft games as the Farcry series, the AC series, the Ghost Recon series, Division 1 and 2, the two excellent South Park games, Rainbow Six games etc, so I cant say that I bear them much ill but some others will have reasonable cause to dislike them... its just that in this instance that cause isnt that they are about to delete peoples games :D

Course "Ubisoft are stealing your games!!1!!1" makes for a video which gets more hits than "Ubisoft arent going to remove your games" lol

Does show though the power of social media and just how so many people will automatically believe what they see and read rather than investigate something themselves.

The more I think about it, the more I think Ubisoft are their own worst enemy, they bought this upon themselves. If as it seems all they planned to do was delete accounts of a certain vintage with no games or purchases, nobody would have been any the wiser ... so why make the announcement in the first place?

No I think they had other plans more true to what was first posted ... no smoke without fire and this is just reputation recovery effort to save face and they are back peddling.

Horrible Company, the worst in the Biz by far with worst support by a country mile.
