I am confused about which version of Ubuntu to install - 6.06 LTS or 6.10?

.06 is intended to be a stable, long-supported version. .10 intends to be as cutting-edge as possible, featuring all the latest of all the packages.

6.06 seems to do better with wireless networking for whatever reason. If you're not on a wireless network I'd go for 6.10 (or even one of the 7.04 betas that are now out).
