Ubuntu 10.10 Beta

Been using it for the last week and seems stable enough, faster than 10.04 at startup too! Other than that haven't really noticed any difference or major improvements tbh.

I remember reading something somewhere about the move of the icons from the top-right to the top-left which seemed to imply that something was being added to the top-right of the window, and the move was to allow users to adjust before this thing was added. Not sure what it actually is though.

They could have left the buttons as they were, and this "thing" could just as easily be placed on the top-left.

Tinkering for tinkering's sake. The muppets.

Just a reminder for anyone interested - the full 10.10 release is available tomorrow. The 10.10 RC is available already, so you could d/l that and just dist-upgrade if you wanted to.

Didn't think you had to do a dist-upgrade to be at the release level (unless they do release a new kernel version).

I think just a normal apt-get upgrade would do the trick to download whatever packages are the current ones.

Not that the concept of "release version" means as much as it does with Windows anyway :)

Quite right, thanks.

Or just use the Update Manager :)

Anyone know if the suspend problem has been fixed or worked on? It's the only thing that's completely killing Ubuntu for me at the moment.

What suspend issues are you having? I'm having lots too and was trying to muck around with video card and BIOS/ACPI stuff - I'd never considered it being the OS.
