Counting down to Ubuntu 11.10.. http://www.thisisthecountdown.com/
Available in less than 2 days time!

Hopefully the Unity will be improved in this version. I hate the Unity in 11.04, especially running it on netbook. Every time when I move my mouse cursor across the program launcher, my hard disk will be spinning.

Heard that you no longer able to choose ubuntu classic when you sign on.

Any feedback for those using the beta version?

I haven't used the beta however I did use Unity 2D back when it was in alpha, running on 10.10. Was awesome, very quick, clean, worked and looked good. And not as buggy as I expected. IMO a worthy replacement for ubuntu classic. And thats without mentioning all the upgrades both it and Unity 3D have had in 11.10.

I still can't stand that I can't lock the left bar in Unity. Makes things feel clunky and uncomfortable when it hides while "over" something.

I tried installing/using 11.10 on a MacBook2,1 and the 3D performance is so bad that it is not usable. Any ideas? Is the MacBook2,1 hardware not good enough?
