I am about to download and want to know which one should I get, I will be using my computer for gaming, surfing and the occasional homework.
Which one should I get, on the website it recommends the 32 bit OS, but since my system is high spec should I go for the 64 bit or is the 64 bit slower, buggier or what?

System:
i5 3570k
8GB ram
msi 7950

EDIT: It is Ubuntu 12.10

Hello,

Go 64-bit. I do not understand why they recommend 32-bit. Developers have been 64-bit for eons, odd bugs are more likely in 32-bit and 32-bit can only see 4GB of RAM max anyway.

Only possible reason I can think of why they might suggest 32-bit would be maybe for oracle java plugin that is only 32-bit? Screw the java plugin though.

If you have 64 bit hardware, go with 64-bit linux. I would suggest Mint or Fedora though, simply because Ubuntu 12.10 is a big fat piece of adware.

Why do you say that?

If you're building a PC with gaming in mind, a Linux-based OS is probably not the best choice, simply because there are nowhere near as many games for it as there are for Windows.

Really hoping that will change soon, what with Steam being made available and such. Soon as that and video editing is sorted, I will gladly make Ubuntu my main OS.

Fixed :D

Performance is better on KDE and IMHO it looks nicer too!

As stated 64bit, no point in having a Aston Martin DB9 and sticking in a Fiat Punt 1.25ltr engine in it :)
