I tried re-installing Ubuntu 7.04 on one of my rigs and couldnt download the ia32-libs package using the normal commands so I ended up installing Ubuntu 8.04. I do still have a rig folding with 7.04 and 8.04 is a full 30 seconds per frame slower (its using less CPU cycles than 7.04 around 85%). This is on a q6600 @ 3.2GHz.
As the Ubuntu repository no longer supports the ia32-libs for 7.04 is it possible to extract the libs from the rig I have running F@H on Ubuntu 7.04 and then install them onto a new installation of 7.04.
Or is there another location I would be able to find the ia32-libs for 7.04.
I have trawlled through many sites trying to find a way of getting 7.04 working as a new installation but it seems people have just gone with 8.04 and probably have not noticed how much slower it realy is.
Ubuntu 8.10 is just a total waste of time as far as folding is concerned on a quad core, tried it and it only uses about 65% CPU.
