Ubuntu 8.04 VMware Tools

Hi,

I'd like to get Ubuntu running properly under VMware, but it's not all nice & smooth without VMware tools installed.

I did read somewhere that something in the kernel has changes which makes VMware Tools incompatible with Ubutnu 8.04.

I did also read that people have managed to get passed this and still managed to install VMware properly.

Has anyone managed to get it going properly, if so, how?

I got it to build just fine after I had installed the relevant 'build' tools gcc etc.

I think I used this guide here

You can also download a 8.04 vmware 'appliance' if you want with them preinstalled at:

Yeh that's the only bad thing about running Ubuntu in a virtual machine

AHA, only an hour ago, I threw Ubuntu 8 into VM and Im having no luck either.

To be honest, its not just Ubuntu 8 but a lot of everything has certain 3D issues under a VM
