Ubuntu 8.10 Live CD... without the CD.

i use diskpart in windows to make my usb stick active, then dmount image with deamon tools, then do xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\

works every time, unetbootin works mostly but has failed to work on a few iso's I have tried.

I considered trying out UNetbootin, but decided against it because I'm familiar with every command in that short script and I'm not a fan of 'black box' solutions. :p

Does Arch do Live CD / USB?

There is a spin off Arch live CD. Most of the arch folk don't seem too keen on it.
I can see their point, the Arch hobby is the setting up, learning and messing about.

If you want a good minimal install with sane defaults you're better off with Debian.
