I tried the 64 bit CD tonight, was going to install then stopped because once the live CD had booted to the desktop,I got an error message in the system tray explaining there was an ECC memory issue. It's a complaint particular to 64 bit because I have installed the 32 bit version this week without issue.

I have had a look on the net and found a thread on Launchpad:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kerneloops/+bug/422536?comments=all

Has anyone else had this issue? I want to install 64 bit, but not until the problem is fixed.

Go for another x64 flavour of linux?

Just a suggestion, but there are loads of distros unless you are heart-set on using Ubuntu.

I'm using 64-bit Fedora at the moment with no issue, but I might be switching to Arch Linux soon just to try it out.
