Ubuntu 9.10 doesnt manage my battery life Acer Aspire One 751

How can I fix this?

Battery is displayed but I get no percentage displayed even with the power cable unplugged. Problem is I have no ideas how much is left so it just switches straight off.

I would use the almost released version but that doesn't support the GMA 500 chipset.

So far the only way to get everything working on this laptop is using Windows XP or 7. Shame really.

are you sing gnome? If so, you should be able to set the preferences so it sleeps etc. when battery life gets low, and if that's not working you should investigate why. I've not personally had a problem like that before...
