Ubuntu - apache/MySQL problem after reboot

Hi,

Rebooted my Ubuntu server earlier today, when it came back up I got this error on the pages that are using MySQL:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() then it carries on to say in what file the error is.

I have tried rebooting again, no luck.

Any ideas what could be causing the problem?

What am I looking for in php.ini ?
I really don't get how this broke, the PC was up solid for 20 days, rebooted and then it was broken

Just re-installed the whole of SQL, still the same problem. Any idea please?
