After trying XGL on Dapper Drake I liked Ubuntu so decided to install the last stable release (5.10, Breezy Badger?)
Got it all installed and everything seems to work fine, but there seems to be a 0.5-1 second lag when playing any sort of audio. First noticed it on Google Video, but it's apparent in Quake 4 as well.
I've tried looking around but there doesn't seem to be anything that I can find to change audio settings (other than turn system sounds on/off etc), so I'm a bit lost.
Sound chip is "CMI8738 MC8 - ALSA Mixer", though I have to change this to OSS in Quake4 or the sound is messed up (console command inside Quake 4)
I have an nForce 2 with the standard onboard Realtek AC97 (currently disabled) as well as this soundcard, but I can enable it if the problem is specific to the device and not Ubuntu/Linux itself.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
