Hi all,
I've got a nice fresh install of Ubuntu 6.10. I've run Automatix, installed Beryl and some other bits, which has all worked sweet.

However, I still can't get my Saitek Gaming Mouse to behave properly. It has 5 main buttons, a scroll wheel (with button when you press down on it). Strangely at the moment, if I roll the mouse wheel, Firefox goes Back/Forwards through my browsing history. I want the mouse to behave just as it should in Windows, i.e., 2 side buttons allow me to go forwards and back, the scroll wheel scrolls the windows up and down.

Any ideas how to sort this? I've Googled and found a few different methods to sort it, but none of them seem to work fully.

Yeah, that's what I followed first, and after doing so, rolling the mouse wheel moves forward/back in Firefox.

Could you possibly post the Mouse section of your xorg.conf for me to compare?

Cheers,
Matt

Sadly I can't as that mouse and that installation of Ubuntu are both long gone. I'm all 2-button these days. :o

I'm sure somebody else has gotten it working. :)

for the forwards and back you need to use xmodmap, it will take some playing around with but use it aswell as xev to see what buttons map to what signal. tis odd, but if you cant find guides for your mouse look at some for the mx1000 they involve the above.
