As the title really.

I have just done a fresh install of Ubuntu Edgy [6.10 amd64] and it would appear it cannot use either of the LAN ports.

There is an eth0 listed in the network config but nothing happens even when manually configured with IP/gateway etc.

There are drivers with the P5B's CD but the readme might as well be written in ancient Chinese for all the good it is. The annoying thing is I really rather suspect it relies on me being able to download stuff, which is daft considering I bloody well cant :p

Does anyone have any ideas [or an English translation of the Asus Linux Drivers readme :p].

I appreciate any and all help.

Can you check to see if your configuration is right in a terminal,

ifconfig eth0 if you don't understand the output paste it here.

According to a wiki the chipsets are,

Marvell Yukon 88E8056 (sky2 driver) and Marvell Yukon 88E8001 (skge)

Can you check that with lspci as well...

EDIT: Ah right the short version the driver is buggy you need >2.6.20 (As far as I remember edgy has an earlier kernel version).. Imo I would just upgrade to feisty now it has gone stable today - that will fix your problems.

No probs 2.6.20-15 in feisty so that should fix your prob, if not just shout.
