Just curious, how many of you use Ubuntu for playing games? How easy have you found it to install / get them working correctly? Did you have to use Cedega, or was WINE enough? (I have Wine already installed, but don't want to shell out fo cedega). Was there compatibility issues with games for older versions of windows? What about stuff like MAME etc?

Just curious if this is something I should invest some time in ^^ I have a windows machine for WoW atm but a portable games machine (my linux laptop) appeals so...

Yeah...
Code:
apt-get install scummvm
Currently reliving the DOTT experience once again. :D

But no, sorry, I have no experience of 3D gaming on Ubuntu.

both Cedega and Wine work well.

Wine is more DIY, Cedega is more 'works out of the bag' but you have to pay a subscription to Cedega.

Not everything works.

UT games are native installs. They were made how all games should be. So is WolfET.
Quoted for Truth.
Had UT2004 running on my laptop under Kubuntu 6.10 a couple of weeks ago. Can't remember how I got it installed exactly, but if you google "linux install UT2004" you'll find a fair few pages with decent instructions. From what I remember it was just a couple of terminal commands :D

Unfortunately, Linux didn't take and I moved back to the BloatWare O/S!
