ubuntu + i975x

I've just built a new system, but keep getting various errors using dapper 6.06 disk.

I was just wandering if anyone else has it installed on the i975x chipset or the p5w dh mobo.

The errors seem to be disk IO errors on the dvd drive

I know the disk is ok as I used it to install on my p4 system. I'm just thinking about maybe downloading Edgy.

Have you checked the CD for errors?

I'm not sure it is the cd atm

I tried 2 drives aswell and it does the same, comes up with errors on the ide controller on nosplash.

I'm thinking maybe it doesn't have support for this mobo.

comes up with something like "cdrom drive replied huh? - expected null"

bah looks like there are some problems with the jmicron controller in ubuntu

just found a thread about it on ubuntu forums also on the wiki
