The problem i've got is i boot from the live cd, and get to the start up screen. I then start up in safe graphics mode but after the loading bar, my monitor says "cannot support display mode". My monitor is a bog standard 15inch tft with a vga input, my graphics a 7600GT . I've tried setting the resolution in the loadup with F4, but it doesn't have any affect.

The live CD itself is fine it works on a friends pc ok, so i don't think that's the problem.

Any ideas how to get it displaying properly?

thanks in advance

edit: i've seen this site http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Gutsy has been recommended for advice, although i can't seem to access it now, is it down?

There is a glitch with certain machines. If you're definitely going to install Ubuntu, you'll be able to use the "alternate" CD, which just uses a direct installer rather than loading the live kernel.
