This wonderful shuttle uses the second ever ATI chipset to be produced, and it seems it's managed to slip under the radar in terms of linux. As i've found its a weird chipset and things even taken for granted in windows (ie temperature monitors) don't always work with it.

I want to give Ubuntu a good try but it fails to even load the LiveCD up. I've read around and i've used "noapic nolapic acpi=off" that gets me past a "kernal panic" but it still crashes loading later on :(. How can i turn on logging so i can get help? Basically the loading bar just stops moving, but there is no output at this time to say whats going on under the hood?

Cheers

Ctrl-Alt-F1 should give you the text loading screen with more information, not sure if Ctrl-Alt and the other function keys will show anything with Ubuntu.

Hmmm its fine the new 7.04 (which isn't technically stable i know) works fine with "nolapic noapic acpi=off" tagged onto boot. Definate problems with 6.06 and 6.10 though, because i've done nothing different!
