Ubuntu Netbook Remix

I have had this on my acer series one netbook for a while but still been using the XP partition.

I have now removed the XP partition, but Ubuntu is really slow now, it never used to be that slow, even when moving around on the front menu it seems to take ages. Any ideas what it could be ?

Ok, so I updated package to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS

It seems much faster now. How do I change the PC name. It currently says mat-laptop but I want to change it to a generic name.

Hopefully selling this on soon.

Done it, yay

Open your command terminal by selecting Applications - > Accessories - > Terminal.
Type gksudo gedit /etc/hostname into the command terminal, and press Enter on your keyboard.
Enter your administrative password in the text box. Click OK
A window will open titled hostname (/etc) – gedit. Replace your system's current name with the new one.
Select Save from the tool panel at the top of the window.
