Ubuntu or kubuntu...?

Doesn't really matter. In either case if you don't like what you see you can just use the package manager to install the other option.

I've tried both and consider the Gnome interface the more complete (and better documented) as far as Ubuntu goes. I use KDE on my Gentoo box but may switch. May give XFCE a try too - that's the beauty of Linux. :)

Always loved KDE myself, and always loved RPM Distros ( Most liekyl cause is that I got into Linux via Mandrake 5.1 ) and I have found Gnome to be so bloody awful.

However...

I have to admit that my main Linux Laptop is currently running Ubuntu 8.4 with GNome and while I have installed KDE onto it, I am finding myself useing gnome a lot more for no reason other than its fun.

I have to also add that xfce looks very much like gnome in more ways than one and both can be light and heavy, depending on how they are setup.

I also like Enlightenment, and I have found myself often torn between OpenGEU and other buntus

I've always preferred Gnome in the past, it's always run better for me with KDE feeling a little bloated, however, KDE seems "prettier", and now PC's are of a higher spec, perhaps I'd enjoy it more.

I like Xubuntu too, closely followed by Ubuntu. I find Kubuntu feels a little unstable and just not quite right for some reason.

Ubunutu gets a vote for me. Feels a little more complete. It's a UI difference though primarily and therefore is a matter of personal preference.

I prefer KDE to Gnome, even if KDE is very reminiscent of Windows. However, my home PC is running XFCE because it's just so darn quick. Makes my machine fly.

I used to prefer KDE, but KDE4 has so many issues I've actually moved to Gnome. So I'd say Ubuntu.

M

Thats one of the main reasons I moved too!

I have lost it with Mandrake and I have never enjoyed Mandriva, so, I moved to SuSE ( I have always hated SuSE, but v10.x was spot on with Slick ) but then WTF was that on SuSE 11 ?

Went to Ubuntu and Im loving it...

Only thing ruining it for me is that Im sick of entering my password every 2 minutes

Looks like your sig is a little out of date then?

What mine?

No, its fine and at this moment in time, the DS4 and DS3 are running XP64, the AB9 is running Kubuntu and the Opteron 285 is running Sabayon.

They are unlikely to change at this time, but my main Laptop is what I am on about, while my main PC is at this moment, running Server 2003 64-Bit.

I did put Vista64 onto IT, but once again, it is just too buggy for me to bother with
